Mark Russell - Head Coach/Team Manager

4 x World Champion Mark founded Team Chongi in 2008. He started his training under the world renowned Master Sken and has travelled and competed all over the world and fought in the K-1 tournaments in Japan. His honours include:

  • BTBC British Light Heavy Weight (All styles) Champion
  • WKA European Cruiserweight Champion (Thai boxing)
  • WKA World Light Cruiserweight Champion (Kickboxing)
  • WKA World Heavy Weight Champion (Kickboxing)
  • ISKA World Heavy Weight Champion (Kickboxing)
  • WAKO-Pro Super Heavy Weight World Champion (Thai boxing)
  • Cheshire East Coach of the Year 2011

For the past ten years Mark has worked closely with Olivers Gym in Salford Manchester, developing his boxing knowledge under the tutelage of Oliver Harrison, the former coach of current World Champion Amir Khan and former European Champion Jamie Moore. Will Robinson

Will Robinson - Strength Coach

Will has a 1st class Degree in Sports Science and a Masters Degree in Sports Physiology. His experience includes:

  • Working with sports scholars on the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS)
  • Working with professional athletes from a range of sports including, Football (England FA Women's senior & U19, Everton Ladies and Liverpool Ladies F.C), Rugby (England & Ireland RFL), Basketball (Everton Tigers), Triathlon (North West Senior Squad), Boxing (Former WBU English Featherweight Champion).
  • Working as Strength and Conditioning Coach for Widnes Vikings Rugby League Football Club, working with the First, Reserve, Academy and Scholarship teams.
  • Working with the English Institute of Sport working as a Research Physiologist. His current research interests include aspects of molecular biology, genetics and applied human physiology.

Debs ‘ T4’ Cornes

Deb T4 Cornes - Little Chongi Coach and Lead Thai-Bo Coach

Deb has a 1st Class BSc (Hons) degree in Physical Activity, Exercise and Health Sciences.

Her accomplished CV includes:

  • Working for Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council in the Health Department Team on a variety of high profile health programmes
  • Working for the local authority Sports Development Team – managing young people with behavioural and / or emotional problems
  • Currently working for St Helen’s NHS Health Improvement Team as a Health Improvement Practitioner Advanced. Within this role, Deb manages a team of staff, leads the Healthy Schools Programme and contributes to the Healthy Weight Pathway.

Deb has more than 10 years experience working with children and young people and has spent several years working with vulnerable groups requiring more specialist support. She was the obvious choice as the Academy's Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer.

Lee Murray

Lee Murray : Assistant Lead Boxing Coach

As a black belt in karate, I have competed at local, regional and national level, both as a junior and senior.

Following a break due to injury, I took up Amateur Boxing in 1998 and as well as competing, coached national and international standard fighters for ten years. As a qualified, ABA full coach I have also cornered for countless fighters.

My passion for combat training and its inherent physiological and psychological benefits coupled with World Champion Mark Russell’s reputation as the best combat coach around have led me to Chongi.

Additional qualifications - CYQ Level 2 Gym Instructor / CYQ Level 3 Personal Training
